MILESTONES

Formica operates in the market of colored synthetic and created stones about 25 years.  Currently, “Formica Group” comprises of 10 companies in different countries and cities, with total staff of more than  150 people.

 

Here are the main stages in the development of Formica Group of companies:

November 19, 1992. Moscow, Russia

The date and place of registration of the parent company - Formica Ltd.  From the very first moment of our company's birth, main business was production and sale of synthetic and created stones: Hydrothermal Emerald and Quartz, Flame-Fusion Sapphire and Ruby, Cubic Zirconia, GGG and YAG and so on.  All these materials were produced in Russia both in the laboratory conditions and in the large state-owned factories.

February 1995, Tucson, USA

First international exposure and participation in one of the biggest International Fair in USA. Beginning of export-import activity.

1997

First representative office of Formica Ltd in Thailand was opened - Rusgems Ltd.

May 24, 2002. Bangkok, Thailand

Birth's date of “Rough Synthetic Stones Co. Ltd.” and opening new branch office of Formica Group in Thailand. Same type of business activity: Import of Rough Material and export cut stones.  Same year RSS Co Ltd is the official distributor of the well-known Czech company Preciosa a.s. in Thailand. In august 2013, company changes it's registered name in Thailand to “Formica (Th) Co. Ltd”, due to the fact that company changed it's main business activity course from rough material to production and sales of finished cut stones only.

August, 2002

 

Founding of our own jewellery factory in Yaroslavl city, Russia (trademark «Yaroslavna»). This factory manufactures gold & silver Jewellery with natural and synthetic gemstones.

June 2006, Kostroma Region, Russia

Launch of new whole-sale shop "Yuvelirnye Kamni" in the Heart of Jewellery Capital of Russia.

January 2014, Wuzhow, China

Opening our first shop and branch office "Formicagem". Manufacturing finished cut stones in China and Sales of cut stones in domestic Chinese market as well as overseas.

September 1994, Moscow, Russia

For the first time in its history, Formica Ltd took part in Russia's largest jewelry fair "Yuvelir". From that moment, we are permanent participants of all largest Jewellery Fairs in Russia.

1996

First business trips to Thailand for the purpose of sale of raw materials and import cut stones into Russia.

1998-2001

Annual participation in major Jewellery Fairs in Thailand and Hong Kong (Bangkok Gem and Jewelry Fair and Hong Kong International Jewellery Fair)

August 10, 2004. Chonburi, Thailand

Registration date of "Formica-Phianite Co., Ltd". - Our first factory outside of Russian Federation. In the beginning it manufactured Special Color Cubic Zirconia (Chocolate-Brown, Emerald, Sapphire, Tanzanite, Blue Topaz, Aquamarine, Color-Change…). Here at the same place in 2009, first trail works on production of our new material Nanocrystal® were conducted.

August 27,  2013. Chonburi, Thailand

Registration date of our new factory “Formica Crystal Systems Co Ltd”  and start of full scale manufacturing production of Nanogem or Nanocrystal®– nanocrystallic glass-ceramic material. Large assortment is presented by more than 220 colors and shades, capacity reaches 90-100 tonns per year.

September 2013, Hong Kong

 

Participation in JNA Awards organized by UBM. Receiving a Prize for the Best Innovation of the Year in Jewellery Industry - Category - “Manufacturing and Technology” for developing and manufacturing new material for Jewellery Industry – Nanogem.

In addition to the above mentioned companies Formica Group has other offices and dealers in Russia, Armenia, Italy, Czech Republic, India, China and Hong Kong.

 

At the moment company continues to conduct research and investment projects with the purpose of further expanding and improvement of current production, as well creating new type of products.
